SerialCUP 2012

6. September, 2012

The epicness of this year’s three task Serial Cup can be easily compared with last year’s five task event. Besides of being a joyful flying and competitive experience for pilots flying serial wings, Serial Cup competition’s main goal is to be educative; from 26th August to 1th September 2012 mountains and skies above Soča valley, Slovenia, offered playground with great conditions and beautiful views for prototypical paragliding race flying, which was enhanced with on-the-ground daily theoretical lectures about safety (Slovenian mountain rescue team), paragliding psychology (Mads Syndergaard), recipes for winning (Marko Hrgetić), XC flights (Matic Erbežnik, Jošt Napret) and analysis of tasks (Primož Suša).

As intended by the orientation of competition, all three of four prepared tasks were finished by great amount of pilots. They were divided in three categories: Ewa Korneluk – Guzy (Germany) won in female category and Simon Konavec (Slovenia) in both, sport class (wings up to EN-C) and fun class (wings up to EN-B) categories. World top pilots were excluded from those categories in order to encourage new pilots to climb the podium. Despite this rule Valič brothers proved that their EN-B 777 Rook wing can be also a fast competition machine in experienced hands and score into top 10 overall (Aljaž 5th and Urban 10th). Fastest pilot overall was Marko Novak (Slovenia), with second place Robertas Pesliakas became the champion of the conjoined Lithuanian Championship and third place went to Poland with Bartosz Moszczynski.
