The Winter Cup is a Slovenian invention intended to take advantage of the protected weather patterns of the Slovenian heartland, and offer race-starved pilots a touch of respite during the cold winter months. But this winter hasn’t been cooperating, not even in Slovenia. So the Winter Cup was postponed twice already, and finally came to pass this past weekend, at the famous Lijak site close to the Triple Seven HQ.
It seems only fitting that there should be a visible Triple Seven presence at such an event, and there was. Although there’s no formal category for EN D 3-liners we were happy to see that our King EN D wing was the highest-scoring 3-liner in the event, and when it comes to the Sports Class (up to EN C) our new Queen 2 also made something of a splash, with all three Queen 2 wings making it into the top 5 of the Sports Class.
We’d like to thank all the Triple Seven pilots who flew in the event; Tomáš Breburda on the King, Damjan Čretnik, Kuba Sto, Stojan Kranjc; Jozsef Szabo and Rok Vegelj on the Queen 2, and Dominik Kapica on the Rook 2 – you guys made our wings shine! Damjan Čretnik won the Sports Class, Kuba Sto was third, Stojan Kranjc was fifth etc. – great flying all of you!
